MORNING VIEW - Louis Ray Howard, 89, died Thursday, Jan. 29 at his residence. He was a heavy equipment operator with Jolly Construction, a member of the Local #18 Equipment Operators Union for over 50 years, a WWII Army veteran, a founder and past fire chief of Kenton Fire Department, a member of V.F.W. Post 15018, a farmer, a driver for Newsome Bus Line and enjoyed euchre. His wife Frances Eversole Howard died previously. He is survived by daughters Patricia Mullins of Hamilton, Sherri Warner of Weatherford, TX; sons Louis Howard, Jr. of Greers Ferry, Ark., Glenn Howard of Morning View, and Tony Howard of Independence; sisters Sandy Storey of Burlington and Dorothy Barnes of Independence; brother Jack Howard of Louisville; 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Visitation will be Monday, Feb. 2 from 5-8 p.m. at Chambers & Grubbs Funeral Home in Independence. Funeral service will be Tuesday, Feb. 3 at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with burial following at Independence Cemetery.
