Obituary of William Vandiver

INDEPENDENCE - William "Bill" J. Vandiver, 88, died Friday, Jan. 23 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Edgewood. He was a WWII Army veteran and office manager for the John R. Jurgensen Company. He was also a member of Oak Ridge Baptist Church who loved playing music and a pilot who loved flying. His father, Hubert Vandiver and mother, Hazel Vandiver both died previously. Survivors include daughter, Donna Merkle of Independence; son, Willam D. Vandiver of North Richland Hills, TX; son, John D. Vandiver of Fayetteville; son, Robert L. Vandiver of Taylor Mill; son, David J. Vandiver of Independence; 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be 10:00 to noon Monday, Jan. 26 at the Oak Ridge Baptist Church in Independence. Services will be noon Monday, Jan. 26 at the Oak Ridge Baptist Church in Independence.
