Obituary of Kenneth Elder

Kenneth R. Elder, 88, of Florence passed away suddenly Tuesday, June 25, 2013 at University Hospital of Cincinnati. He retired as a maintenance mechanic for Sherwin-Williams Chemical Co. of St.Bernard, and was a United States Army Veteran of WWII. After he retired, Ken enjoyed his cattle farm and working in his garden. He was preceded in death by his parents James and Gracie Elder; brothers Ezzra and Albert Elder; sisters Francis Barr, Lizzie Nichols, Emma McClure, Ida Mulligan, Ardie Elder, and Maxine Whittle. Survivors include his wife of 66 years Gusta "Sis" Stevens Elder; daughter Janet Sue (John) Dwyer of Burlington; son Kenny (Patty) Elder of Petersburg; sister Marcella Elder of New Richmond, OH; brothers David Elder of Eubank, KY, Graden Elder of Crab Orchard, KY, Cledious Elder of Taylor Mill; grandchildren Jimmy (Cyndi) Elder and Jesse Elder; and great-grandson Hunter Elder. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 PM, Friday, June 28, 2013 at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home of Florence. Visitation will also be from 11 AM until time of funeral service at 1 PM at Fairview Church of Christ in Brodhead, KY. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Broadhead, KY.
