Obituary of Billy Wynn

Please share a memory of Billy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Billy R. Wynn was born on July 27, 1928, in Warsaw, Ky. He lived much of his boyhood and all of his formative years in Walton, Kentucky, graduating from Walton-Verona High School in 1947 after serving a two year hitch in the Navy. After high school he got a degree from Western Kentucky University, chose the Air Force as his career, became an Air Force Lieutenant and briefly was a pilot. Later, after exiting the cockpit, he was stationed at Air Force bases all over the world as he made his way up through the ranks. He actively served in both the Korean and Vietnam wars and, because he was in the Navy a short time before World War II ended, he was actually in the service during three of America's wars, retiring from the Air Force with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. His death was near his Richmond, Virginia, home on March 17th, surrounded by his family. His beloved wife of many years, Marguerite E. Wynn, predeceased him. She was a nurse in the service of our country and is buried in Arlington National Cemetery. The final resting place of Lt. Col. Wynn is next to his wife at Arlngton. Lt. Col. Wynn was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather. After his retirement from the Air Force, he became management engineer from the Virginia Department of Transportation, from which he was also retired. He loved spending time with his family, visiting with his friends and regularly communicating with his boyhood friend, retired attorney Asa Rouse of Walton, Kentucky. He is survived by his daughter, Lynn A. Hannan, son, Scott R. Wynn, daughter-in-law, Sharon B. Wynn, granddaughters, Adrianne M. Hannan Ko (Adon) and Sarah E. Hannan Merrell (Sam), grandsons, Hunter R. Wynn, Cody S. Wynn and great-grandchildren, Samantha E. Merrell, Sylas K. Merrell, Abram Y. Ko and Abbey M. Ko. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the National Heart Association or National Leukemia Lymphoma Society. No funeral services were held as formal burial services for Lt. Col. Billy R. Wynn were conducted at Arlington.
