From a dear friend, Jane Spurlock, North Carolina:
Who was Esther? (or as I called her: "E-Star")
For she surely was a "STAR" in heaven.
I first met Esther soon after she became my neighbor. Our son, Jon, was having a "sleepover" and I was involved in food preparation. Over her front fence I said "Do you think tuna sandwiches would be ok?" She gave me that "you've got to be kidding look" and said "maybe, maybe not"...I had my answer. From that day on we became very good friends.
We dug for crystals in Arkansas, but the best part of that trip was getting a good massage at the Mineral Springs Spa.
We periodically tripped over to the Rainbow Room to participate in the Healing Circles there.
We went to Lay Speaker classes together.
She fostered children from Brighten Center. Early in her life she was a participant at the Salvation Army, "Ringin' that bell!"
She started attending Staffordsburg United Methodist Church, helping when and where she could...dinners, VBS, bible classes, cooking for the homeless for a "sister" church to name a few. The one thing I chuckle about most was when she and I were "witches" in the Annual Haunted Woods.
We'd jump in the car for a trip to the grocery or drug store, down to Latonia, getting a bite to eat in the process.
We'd sit and talk about "STUFF". We didn't solve the world's problems but we laughed and hooted a lot!
And E-Star, I bet you're doing just that in your assigned place in Heaven.
We, your friends and family, remain earthbound, but certainly look forward to coming there to see you someday.
God Bless...Your friends and family...and especially ME,
Jane
