Obituary of Edwin Burtis

Please share a memory of Edwin to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Edwin R. Burtis, III; age 78 of Walton, KY passed away Saturday December 29, 2012 at Hospice of St.Elizabeth, Edgewood, KY. He is survived by 3 children, Kerrie Anne Wagers, Edwin R. Burtis, IV, Maureen Fyffe; 9 Grandchildren; 9 Great Grandchildren; a sister Joan Meany of Bluffton, SC, 4 nieces and nephews and his very best friend, Cherie G. LoDestro and her family. He was born and raised in Rockville Centre, NY, lived in Piseco, NY, Orchard Park, NY, Florence, KY, Dry Ridge, KY, and Walton, KY. Ed loved and lived life to its fullest, and was a fun loving competitor who enjoyed adventure, as demonstrated by his personal experience in many activities. He did not want to someday look back at his life and say "I wish that I had tried or done that." He had a great passion for the game of golf and a fondness for those he met in this activity. He has a strong Love of Jesus Christ as his savior and wishes that none would mourn his death, but rather praise the word of God and life everlasting. A memorial service will be held at The Gathering Place Church, 10310 Dixie Highway, Florence, KY on Tuesday, January 8 at 5:30 PM. A friends and family reception will follow. In keeping with Ed's wishes, please no flowers; in lieu of flowers, a donation may be sent to The Gathering Place Church, Florence, KY.
