Obituary of Gary Osswald

Gary Allen Osswald, 62 of Cincinnati, passed away Thursday, November 15, 2012 at University Health of Cincinnati. Dr. Osswald was a retired professor of Aerospace Engineering at the University of Cincinnati. He had previously worked for NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration), AFIT (Air Force Institute of Technology) and DARPA (Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency). Gary was a member of the USSA (United States Ski and Snowboard Association) and PSIA (Professional Ski Instructors of America). Survivors include his wife of 32 years Deborah A. deGroot-Osswald of Cincinnati; son Garrett A. Osswald of Boston, MA; sister Cathy (Robert) Schmidt of Oxford, OH; niece Emily Schmidt and nephews David and Robby Schmidt. He was preceded in death by his parents Emil John Osswald and Garnet Elizabeth Osterkamp Osswald and mother-in-law Mary Lou deGroot. Visitation will be Wednesday, November 21, 2012 from 9:30 AM until time of funeral service at 11:30 AM at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home of Independence. Entombment will be at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens of Covington.
