Obituary of Bernie Kaiser
Bernie J. Kaiser, 83, of Florence, KY passed peacefully after an extended illness on November 13, 2024 at Boonespring Skilled Nursing Facility in Union, KY. Born and raised in Covington, KY, he was the son of the late Joseph and Anna [Balz] Kaiser.
Bernie was introduced by friends to Linda Roaden, the person who would be his high school sweetheart and later partner for life. Bernie and Linda first eloped in Newport, KY, and then were formally married in a church ceremony. They spent nearly 65 years together. Bernie, Linda and their family enjoyed traveling and especially camping at the Kentucky State Parks.
Bernie was industrious, working nearly all his life. He started by selling newspapers on the corner as a boy and then over the years transitioned to a career in finance. Upon retirement, he was the CEO of Consumer Credit Counseling—an agency dedicated to assisting in debt relief.
Not content to remain idle in retirement, Bernie was called to serve as a deacon. A life-long Catholic and a member of St. Barbara Church, he was a graduate of the first deacon’s class in 1985 and remained active for the remainder of his life.
Conscientious, diligent, disciplined and hardworking, Bernie never answered automatically or impulsively whenever his counsel was sought; preferring instead to contemplate and provide meaningful advice. His reserved and thoughtful presence will be remembered and carried by all who knew and loved him.
Bernie was the treasured husband of Linda [Roaden] Kaiser; beloved dad to Tim (Margaret) Kaiser and Chris Kaiser; dear papaw to 10 grandchildren and their spouses as well as 13 great grandchildren; adored uncle to numerous nieces and nephews and special brother-in-law to Tom (Laney) Scherder, Bruce (Sandy) Schreider and Lee Vicars. Bernie was preceded in death by his parents, his children Sandy Kaiser and Dave Kaiser, sisters Myrtle Vicars and Alvera McMillan and brother Robert Kaiser.
