Obituary of Alan McCauley

Alan McCauley, 75, of Union, KY, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Edgewood. The son of the late Marcial and Mary {Judy} McCauley, Al was born in Dayton, OH, on February 10, 1949.

Al built lifelong relationships at every turn. He was never short for words. He enjoyed coaching his son and stepson through their youth baseball and basketball days. May to October weekends were spent relaxing and bantering with our lake family. Every Thanksgiving he would soak up the sun and shoot the breeze with the St. Pete Beach Crew. Over the last several years he played euchre 3 days a week at the senior centers in Burlington and Walton. His absence will be felt by many and we will all have to carry on the stories, jokes, and truth that he was known for. 

He will be greatly missed by his wife of 39 years, Fran {VonderHaar} McCauley; son Kyle (Amanda) McCauley; stepson Jeffrey (Amber) Dahlhoff; grandchildren Robie and Laurel; and his precious dog, Cleo. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marcial and Mary McCauley.

A visitation will be held between 2 PM and 4 PM with a memorial service to immediately follow at 4 PM on Sunday, May 5th at Chambers & Grubbs Funeral Home, 8461 Dixie Hwy Florence, KY 41042.
