Obituary of Gary "G-Nub" Moreland

Gary “G-Nub” Moreland, 45, passed away peacefully on April 11th, 2024. Gary was born in Cincinnati, OH to Denise and Gary Diabo on April 28th, 1978. He had worked for the IRS as a Tax Examination Technician for over 18 years at the time of his passing.

Gary was a truly happy and unique soul who fully embraced life. He was never one to judge and accepted people as they were. Gary never knew a stranger. His family describe him as charismatic and amazingly determined. He didn’t complain about the health challenges he faced throughout his life; Gary preferred to “roll with the punches."

Music was a magnificent part of who Gary was. He played the guitar and was a member of a band named '13 Pagen Holiday 13'. Alongside making music, Gary loved to spend much of his free time playing video games.

Gary is preceded in death by his stepdad, Lee Tackett, and grandparents, Melvin Moreland and Evelyn Thomas.

He is survived by his wife, Emili Moreland, who was with Gary for 12 years and they were married for 9. Gary is also survived by his mother, Denise (Greg Hawkins) Tackett; his sisters, Taran Diabo and Melissa (Ami) Tackett; and his fur babies, Molly and Zoey. Gary had just recently learned that he was going to be a father and was both excited and proud to take on the new role. Baby Moreland has quite the legacy to continue and no doubt that Gary will be watching every step from above.

A Celebration of Life will be held on May 10th, 2024, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, 11382 Madison Pike, Independence, KY, 41051. A memorial service will immediately follow at 2:00 PM at the funeral home. The family of Gary invites all who will be joining us on May 10th to wear a Star Wars tee or their favorite band tee if you wish. There will be a reception held by the family following the memorial service from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Little Britain Carriage House, 5307 Idlewild Rd, Burlington, KY 41005.
