Obituary of Sue Estep

Clarice Sue [Donovan] Estep, 76, passed away at home on September 1, 2023. Born on January 17, 1947 in Covington, KY, she was the daughter of William Edward Donovan and Mary Bess [Snow] Poole.

Sue retired from Johnson Controls after only missing 1 day of work in 25 years. She was hard-working to say the least. She enjoyed being outdoors; working in her garden tending her sunflowers and four o’clocks. In her younger years she also liked to do needlepoint and fish. Probably Sue’s favorite thing though was road trips, especially when those trips involved camping. Sue loved visiting Eagle Valley. This feisty bright light of a woman will be forever missed.

Sue leaves behind children Ann McCarty and William “Billy” Sutton; sister Linda Sebastian; grandchildren Michael Kirk, Allana McCarty, Caitlyn McCarty, and Sara Sutton; great-grandchildren Sierra Jude and Lucille “Lucy” Jude; many nieces and nephews; step-daughter Amy Estep; close friend Jamie Clark as well as other dear relatives, including The Estep Family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her fiancé Tom Gross; sisters Joyce, Geraldine, and Shirley; brother Harold; and niece “Twiggy.”

A visitation will be held for Sue on Wednesday September 20, 2023 at Chambers & Grubbs Funeral Home, 45 N. Main St., Walton, KY 41094. Guests are welcome from 5:00PM until shortly before the time of the memorial service at 7:30PM. 

The loss of Sue comes as very sudden and unforeseen. Instead of flowers or other expressions of sympathy, memorials may be made directly to the family via this link.
