Obituary of Ruth J. Dickerson

Ruth Dickerson, 98, of Union, KY, and formerly of Danville, IL, passed away Thursday, November 24, 2022, at home surrounded by her loving family. The daughter of the late Gladys Ditto, Ruth was born in Cayuga, IN on March 15, 1924.

She married the love of her life, Jack D. Dickerson, on October 6, 1951. Jack preceded her in death in August 2016.

Ruth enjoyed going to Cubs games, bus rides with the Knights of Columbus, bowling, crossword puzzles, playing euchre, and most of all, she loved spending time with her family whom she cherished dearly.

Those left to carry on Ruth’s legacy is her son Gary (Laurie) Dickerson; brother Raymond Peterson; grandchildren Joshua Dickerson, Jeramy (Marika) Dickerson, Brittany (Matthew) Fritsch, and Michele Hicks; great-grandchildren Timberly Hicks, Myla Dickerson, Bea Fritsch, and Camille Dickerson; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and other beloved family members.

Preceding her in death were her parents, husband of 64 years, Jack D. Dickerson, daughter Marsha Lynn Davis, great-grandson Merit Hicks, and 5 of her siblings.

A private family graveside service will be held at Sunset Memorial Park in Danville, IL where she will be laid to rest next to her husband.
