Obituary of Marvin Black

Marvin Black, age 94, of Walton, died Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at Hospice of St. Elizabeth in Edgewood. Marvin was a Bus Driver for TANK and a Charter Member of Rosedale Baptist Church in Latonia, where he served previously as Chairman of the Deacons, church Treasurer, and Sunday School Teacher. Mr. Black loved to work on small engines and over the years repaired thousands of lawn mowers for family, friends, neighbors, and co-workers. In his 70's and 80's, Marvin fulfilled his desire to travel by visiting several areas in the U.S. and Europe. He was preceded in death by his wife, Louise Hendren Black in 1989. Mr. Black is survived by his son, Ken (Vernice) Black of Walton; and three grandchildren, Nathan, Ryan, and Megan Black. A visitation will be held Thursday, January 19, 2012 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Chambers and Grubbs in Independence. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Rosedale Baptist Church, 407 East 45th Street, Covington, KY 41015. Interment will be at Oakland Cemetery, Glencoe, KY. Memorial donations can be made to Rosedale Baptist Church or St. Elizabeth Hospice.
