Recalling Estel reminds me of a sweeter, simpler time when doors were open to neighbor's kids, Men worked hard and still found times for thier families, and people were generally decent and kind. Although Estel was my 1st cousin, he was more like an uncle who made us feel safe around his home. I don't recall him being a man of many words, but when he spoke there was an air of importance to the words. We listened to him because he garnered respect, and always treated guests like his home was yours. The image I still have of Estel is of a handsome, smiling man with a proud military-like carriage. I remember his home, beautifully manicured and kept up, reflecting his obvious care for his family inside. I miss the days when your home was as large as your hometown because people like Estel were looking out for you. Phyllis, Debbie, Steve, please accept my heartfelt condolences. I believe your loss to be heaven's gain.
