Obituary of Robert K. Finnell

Robert K. Finnell Jr., 85, of Fayetteville, Ga., formerly of Walton, died Nov. 30 at Fayetteville Hospital. He was a retired manager of Atlanta Terminal Co. and a member of First United Methodist Church in Fayetteville. He attended Dixie Heights High School, where he was a first team all-state quarterback who later played at the University of Kentucky. He was a member of the Northern Kentucky High School Athletic Directors and the Northern Kentucky Sports halls of fame. He was an Army veteran of World War II. A son, Brad Finnell, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred Manning Finnell; a daughter, Betsy Speer of St. Augustine, Fla.; a son, Robert Finnell III of Rome, Ga.; sisters, Ruth Casnellie of Fort Wright and Stella Lawrence of Long Beach, Calif.; and three grandchildren.
Memorial services will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Hughes Chapel Cemetery, Union, and 2:30 p.m. Saturday at United Methodist Church, Fayetteville. Memorials are suggested to United Methodist Church, 175 E. Lanter Ave., Fayetteville, Ga. 30214. Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, Walton, is handling arrangements.
