Ella Rose Ford, enjoyed the simple things
Ella Rose Fryman Ford enjoyed the simple things in life - reading her Bible, eating out once in a while and talking.
A homemaker most of her life, she stayed close to her children to the last.
In 1989, she moved in with her son, Bob, and daughter, Tanya. They bought a house together in Latonia.
They had gone on annual trips together for the past 25 or so years, Bob said, to places such as Natural Bridge or Lake Cumberland.
They lived together until her death on Tuesday at 79.
Mrs. Ford grew up on a family farm off Longbranch Road in Boone County. She graduated from the New Haven High School near Union.
When she was 25, she married George Thomas Ford, who would remain her husband until his death in 1985.
She was a longtime member of the Beaver Lick Baptist Church before she joined the Orchard Street Baptist Church in Elsmere in 1980.
She taught her children the Bible and took them to church, which Bob said he appreciates now, since he's a Christian.
"She was always there for me," he said.
Other survivors include sons, Russell Ford, and Gary Ford, both of Latonia; a daughter, Elizabeth Mann of Taylor Mill; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today at Orchard Street Baptist Church, Elsmere. Visitation was held on Thursday at Chambers & Grubbs Funeral Home, Florence. Burial will be in Beaver Lick Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Orchard Street Baptist Church, 811 Orchard St., Elsmere, Ky. 41018.
