Obituary of Gail Ann Northcutt

Gail Ann Northcutt went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 29th, peacefully at the home of her beloved niece.

Gail was born on May 17, 1938, on Perry Street in Covington, Ky to the late Galen Paul Northcutt and Catherine Sophia Northcutt.

In 1958, Gail moved to Detroit, Michigan, where she joined the convent and took the name Sister Regina. She later left the convent following the passing of her father in 1964.

Gail was a lifelong learner with an extraordinary thirst for knowledge. She tried her hand at many careers throughout her life before deciding to return to school. In 1982, she graduated from the University of Detroit, majoring in English with a minor in Computer Technology. She also earned a Master of Arts in Teaching Mathematics and went on to teach at Martin Luther High School.

Gail's desire to learn never ended. She continued her education. In 1999 she graduated from Wavne State University with a Doctor of Philosophy. She was also a published author of Predictors of Teacher Use of Technology, reflecting her passion for education and her belief in the importance of technology in teaching.

Beyond her academic accomplishments, Gail was an activist and advocate for others. She cared deeply about people and worked to help those in need, including people experiencing homelessness. Her compassion, determination, and willingness to stand up for others were an important part of who she truly was.

Perhaps one of the things Gail was most proud of in her life was finding her lost brother. It was an accomplishment that meant so much to her and reflected her determination, perseverance, and deep love for her brother. Yet true to her humble nature and strong faith, Gail never took the credit for herself. She would simply say, "it was all in God's work." She believed that God had guided her throughout the journey and deserved all the credit.

Gail will be remembered for her intelligence, strength, independence, faith, compassion, and remarkable commitment to education. She lived a life of purpose and never stopped challenging herself to learn, grow, and make a difference.

Gail leaves to cherish her memory Dr. Joseph (Nancy) Stratman, Galen Paul (Mary) Kidwell, Amanda (David) Moore, Virgil Webb, Timothy Webb, and Julie Webb, along with several great-nieces, great-nephews, and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Jim Northcutt, Catherine N. Stratman, Dorothy N. Webb, Margaret N. Kidwell, and nephew Jeffrey C. Kidwell.

Her life touched many people, and her legacy will live on through her family, her students, her friends, and all those who were fortunate enough to know her.

In accordance with her wishes, no formal services will be held. The family will honor her memory privately.
