Obituary of Gregg Layne

Gregory “Gregg” Lee Layne, 64, of Batavia, Ohio, went to his heavenly home on August 24, 2026.

Gregg was the son of Ralph Vaughan and Carol (Eglian) Layne. He was a member of Community Family Church and a man who treasured the simple joys of life. Gregg’s biggest love was his family and the time he spent with them meant more to him than anything. He also had a love for sports cars, fishing, music, and guitars. Gregg had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to joke and make those around him laugh.

Gregg was a walking miracle in that he battled cancer for 8 years.  Many times, the drs didn’t think he would make it.  He is now made whole in heaven with no pain, no sickness or disease.   

Gregg is survived by his loving wife, Tammy Layne; his daughter, Lacey Layne; his son, Jace (Savannah) Layne; his father, Ralph Vaughan; and his mother, Carol Layne.

He is also survived by his brothers, Rodney (Jenny) Layne, Dale Layne, and Steve Layne; his sister, Penny (Bill) Wagner; as well as several aunts, uncles, extended family members, and many others who knew and loved him.

Gregg was preceded in death by his stepfather, Walter Layne.

Gregg will be remembered for his love of family, his faith, his sense of humor, and the laughter he brought into the lives of those around him. His memory will live on through the stories shared, the laughter remembered, and the love he gave so freely to his family and friends.

Visitation will be held on Monday, August 31, 2026 at Community Family Church, 11875 Taylor Mill Rd, Independence, KY 41051 from 10am-12pm.  Service will begin at 12pm.  Burial will follow in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.
