Obituary of James Arnold Downs

Jim Downs, 71, of Independence, died Saturday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. He was a retired laborer with Ford Motor Co., a member of Teamsters Union Local 863 and a former Kenton County Knothole baseball coach. His first wife, Carol Downs, died in 1986.
Survivors include his wife, Marlene Caldwell Downs; a daughter, Melissa O'Brien of Erlanger; sons, Todd Downs of Florence, Tim Downs of Walton and Terry Downs of Morning View; a stepson, Danny Imhof of Highland Heights; and six grandchildren.
Services will be at noon Wednesday at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, Florence. Visitation will begin there at 10 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Southgate.
Memorials are suggested to American Diabetes Association, 721 W. Main St., Louisville, Ky. 40202.
