Obituary of Arthur Channing Leucht

Born May 24, 1945 to the late Eleanor Hatsbrook and Arthur Clifford Leucht in Cincinnati, OH, Arthur Channing Leucht entered the world prematurely but learned early to live life to the fullest. Chan grew up in the Erlanger area and when his father was gone with his railroad job, the neighbors provided a second home for him.

Chan graduated from Lloyd High School and went on to Sue Bennett College in London, KY. He then moved back to Louisville and took some additional courses at U of L. His primary focus was working rather than school, so he moved on to sales where he joined Central School Supply Company.

Central School Supply sent him to live in the sales territory in Richmond, KY. Chan arrived in Richmond as a typical bachelor on a college campus, but within a couple of years found himself hooked on a girl from Eastern Kentucky who helped him change his mind about the marriage issue. After 44 years of marriage, he was happy to say it was the best thing that ever happened to him.

Chan was transferred to Northern Kentucky in July of 1972 and brought his young bride back to his home where he resumed friendships from his childhood.

Chan spent most of his early years in sales, but in the mid-1980’s he decided he wanted to drive a semi. Seeing as he had no experience and no one would hire him, he bought his own truck and became an over the road trucker for the next ten years. Chan loved the challenges that the job presented him.

Once he got over his passion for trucking, Chan decided to go back into sales with Sam’s Club and worked for roughly ten years before being forced to retire due to medical issues. He still had wanderlust on his mind and decided after his retirement to work as a courier service for another couple of years. Retirement was not easy for Chan. After he had to give up playing golf, he decided he enjoyed playing Texas Holdem poker which kept him occupied for several years. Chan became computer proficient so he could play on-line.

Chan was active in the Verona Lodge 876 and served as the secretary and treasurer for several years. During his tenure he was honored to be the Santa Claus for so many eager little people. Chan had the perfect “Ho-Ho-Ho” and brought joy to many children through the years.

Chan departed this world Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at his home being 72 years and 4 months of age. He leaves behind his loving wife of 44 years, Sally Blair Leucht; as well as a host of loving family and friends.

A visitation for Chan will be held on Friday, September 15, 2017 from 10:30 AM until the time of the Masonic Service at 12:00 PM at Chambers & Grubbs Funeral Home in Independence. A funeral service will follow at 12:30 PM also at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Erlanger, KY.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Chan’s name may be made to the American Heart Association, 5211 Madison Road, Cincinnati, Ohio 45227.

Although he will be greatly missed, Chan will never be forgotten. Rest in peace Chan. You’ve earned your place in heaven.
